XXII Santander Encounter of Music and Academy

The XXII Santander Encounter of Music and Academy of Santander brought together during the month of July 2022, in Santander, 11 internationally renowned maestros with 59 young musicians selected one by one through auditions carried out by maestro Péter Csaba, Artistic Director of the Encounter, in the most outstanding music schools in Europe

The academic activity (master classes, individual study, work in chamber groups and large ensembles) took place at the facilities of the Jesús de Monasterio de Santander Conservatory, which this year hosted violin, viola, cello, flute, oboe, clarinet master classes, horn, singing and piano. The Encounter gives great importance to ensemble music, and particularly to chamber music, because in addition to having a very attractive repertoire, it is highly formative and gives rise to a particularly enriching type of interaction between musicians. In fact, the joint work of teachers and young people in chamber groups is what gives the Encounter its personality. Some teachers are entrusted with coordinating ensembles of different sizes, almost always playing their instrument themselves along with the young participants. Intensive work is also done with a large ensemble and chamber and symphony orchestra. The symphonic project that traditionally opens the Encuentro was a tribute concert to pianists Dmitri Bashkirov and Alicia de Larrocha, with works by Strauss and Ravel. It was performed by Sanislav Ioudenitch, piano soloist, and Maestro Péter Csaba conducting the Encuentro Chamber Orchestra.
