Eduard Kollert

Born in Tokyo, Japan, in 2002. Since 2018, he studies at the Reina Sofía School of Music’s Telefónica Violin Chair with professor Zakhar Bron. He has been granted a scholarship by Fundación Albéniz. He plays a Yuri Pochekin violin from 1995, loaned as an instrument scholarship by Zakhar Bron. Her Majesty Queen Sofía handed him the Diploma to the most outstanding student of his chair in the 2022-2023 academic year.

Born to a family of pianists, he began his violin and piano studies at the age of seven in the Czech Republic, where he moved when he was still a child. Since 2012 he has studied with Zakhar Bron in Interlaken, Switzerland. Two years after learning to play the violin and piano, he performed both violin and piano concertos with the Prague Philharmonia in one concert, anon he was invited by the Spanish Royal Family to a recital at the Palacio Real de El Pardo in Madrid. He has also attended masterclasses by Mihaela Martin, Miriam Fried, Ingolf Turban, Silvia Marcovici, and Ralf Gothóni (groups with piano).

He has been awarded several prizes in international competitions, such as Young Virtuosos (Sofia, Bulgaria), the Nutcracker International Television Contest for Young Musicians (Moscow, Russia), Trans-Siberian Art Festival of Novosibirsk (also awarded the Paloma O’Shea special award), Tchaikovsky International Competition for Young Musicians and Virtuosos Talent Show (a Hungarian TV competition) to name a few.

He has played at concerts and festivals held in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Russia, Jordan, UAE, Czechia and Japan, amongst others at the Prague Spring Festival, the Bohuslav Martinů Days Festival, International Music Festival Cesky Krumlov etc. Maestro Vladimir Spivakov invited him to perform at the closing ceremony of the Moscow Meets Friends International Festival and later went on tour around Russia with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra. He has performed with many world-renowned orchestras, like the PKF - Prague Philharmonia, the Czech Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, the North Czech Philharmonic, the RNO Russian National Orchestra, and the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra to name a few.

He’s also a regular guest of classical music programmes on radio and television, including Czech Radio, Classic Praha and Czech Television. He also starred in a 2021 documentary film “Talent” made on the occasion of his debut at the Prague Spring Festival. In 2020 he was also presented on the first international season of Virtuosos Talent Show, where he starred alongside world stars like Placido Domingo, Thomas Gottschalk, Maxim Vengerov etc.

As a student of the School, he has been part of the Freixenet Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Víctor Pablo Pérez, Plácido Domingo, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Juanjo Mena and Péter Csaba; and of the Fundación EDP Camerata, conducted by Paul Goodwin. He has also been a member of the Banco Activo Universal Esferas and Saint-Saëns ensembles and is currently part of the Schola Trío .

He has also been granted a scholarship by the Kellner Family Foundation.
